The response from the local volunteer fire departments was tremendous.  Quemado VFD, Pie Town VFD, Datil VFD, Horse Mt. VFD, Wild Horse VFD and CACA VFD all responsed.

A Type III Team from the Gila National Forest took command of the fire and later turned it over to the Socorro BLM.

NM State Forestry from Socorro also reponded.

Chief McGuire left firefighters in Wild Horse "on call" to respond to any local fire that might have started as the same time.
